Keynote Presenters

All Keynote presentations will be uploaded in mid February 2009. For an insight in to the calibre and scope of the event, the following were the 5 keynote presentations delivered at the event in June this year:

Benjamin Salter - SAP Architect - Enterprise Architecture and Development Services, Valero Energy Corp (USA)
"Has Your eSOA Initiative Become an Exercise in Herding Cats?"
Benjamin Salter is the chief SAP Architect for Valero Energy Corporation. His focus is centred on defining technology roadmaps and enterprise architecture. Ben has been consulting and implementing SAP applications/technologies since 1994 in the areas of SD, MM, PS, IS-Oil, ABAP development and SAP NetWeaver technologies. During that time Ben has architected and delivered complex solutions within a number of industries including chemical, consumer goods, high technology, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, poultry, retail, telecommunications, and utilities.
   
Simon Dale - Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, SAP APJ (Singapore)
"Hear the Latest on the SAP Platform and Application Technology Strategy"
As Senior Vice President of Specialist Solution Sales, Simon Dale is responsible for driving strategy and regional business activities for SAP's technology platform and specialist solutions. Based in SAP Asia's headquarters in Singapore, Simon has worked extensively in major Asia Pacific countries in the last seven years. A veteran of 20 years in the IT industry, Simon holds a BSc in Computing Science from Staffordshire University, UK. Simon's interests include golf, travel, and training for and participating in sprint triathlons.
   
Thomas Jung - SAP NetWeaver Product Management, SAP Labs, LLC (USA)
"News in ABAP - Concepts to Further Increase the Power to ABAP"
Thomas Jung is an SAP NetWeaver Product Manager focusing on Custom Development - particularly in the areas of ABAP, MDM APIs, UI Strategy, and NetWeaver Voice. Before joining SAP Labs in 2006, Thomas was an applications developer for a SAP customer company. He was involved in SAP implementations at this customer as an ABAP Developer for nearly 10 years. He is also the co-author of the SAP Press Books, Advanced BSP Programming and Next Generation ABAP Development.
   
Rolf Schumann - Chief Technology Officer, SAP AG (Germany)
"The Impact of SAP's Technology Direction"
As Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and head of platform/SAP NetWeaver for EMEA at SAP, Rolf Schumann works closely with SAP customers to understand their business needs and requirements. Rolf brings more than sixteen years experience in strategic planning of IT landscapes, SAP-integration and technology architecture projects to his current role at SAP. Prior to working at SAP, Rolf was an eBusiness Principal at Siemens where he managed strategic IT planning, network management, operations and IT outsourcing.
   
Ismael Ghalimi - CEO, Intalio (USA)
"Office 2.0 - The Future of Online Productivity and Collaboration?"
Special Guest Speaker, Ismael Ghalimi coined the term 'Office 2.0' and is the author of IT|Redux-a weblog covering the transformation of the IT industry. He has spearheaded major partnerships and industry alliances, most notably the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI.org) and the Office 2.0 Conference. Ismael is the Founder and CEO of Intalio - the Open Source BPMS company and is a passionate entrepreneur and fervent industry observer. A professional scuba diver and instrument rated private pilot, he lives with his wife and daughter in Palo Alto, California

Workshops
The Workshops that run on the third day of "Mastering SAP Technologies" 2009 will be uploaded in mid February 2009.

For an insight in to the calibre and scope of the Workshops, the following were delivered at the event in June this year:

1. ABAP Development: Update Your Skills to SAP NetWeaver 7.0

Introducing new development technologies (Persistent Objects, Enterprise Services, Model Classes, Web Dynpro ABAP) but in a connected, practical example. This way we will touch on cross-technology topics like transactionally, cross-component usage and model re-use. The session has been designed for developers who want to update their skills to the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 world.

In this workshop you will:
  • Build a unified set of workshop examples that demonstrate the interconnectivity of much of the new ABAP functionality
  • Build an Enterprise Service Interface on top of existing functionality
  • Leverage Persistent Object Services to create better encapsulation of your data access
  • Use Class Based Exceptions to make your code safer and easier to troubleshoot
  • Improve your understanding of the value of Object Oriented ABAP
  • Design User Interfaces for SAP's new, primary UI technology - Web Dynpro
Basic ABAP development skills are required. The session assumes that students have been exposed to 4.6 level development.

2. SAP NetWeaver Portal

The SAP NetWeaver Portal has evolved over the last couple of years into a powerful People Integration Platform providing a single point of access to both SAP and non-SAP information sources, enterprise applications and services. It now also includes collaboration functionality that enables individuals or teams to work closely together towards a common goal. Aimed at users, developers and Portal people looking for practical ways to extract the maximum value out of their SAP NetWeaver Portal investment. The workshop will take a newly installed SAP NetWeaver Portal and evolve it into a valuable enterprise tool.

Topics covered will include:
  • Changing the look & feel of the Portal
  • Content Management & how to go about it
  • Integrating SAP & non-SAP applications into the Portal
  • Pre-delivered content & how to get hold of it
  • Managing roles, worksets, pages & iviews
  • Authentication, security & self-registration
  • Creating an external facing portal
  • An overview of the SAP Composition Environment
  • Creating service-based applications using SAP Visual Composer
  • Federating your Portals - an overview
  • Collaboration on the SAP NetWeaver Portal
Some previous SAP Portal experience as well as some knowledge of BAPI's and Web services would be beneficial but not required.

Derek Wood - Independent SAP Architect (South Africa)

Derek Wood is a Principal SAP NetWeaver Consultant with over 10 years of SAP and IT experience. He is one of the leading SAP NetWeaver experts in South Africa and has a large amount of project experience including Banking, Automotive and Industrial. He has multiple SAP and industry recognised qualifications and certifications, including a Bachelor of Business Science from the University of Cape Town and an MBA in Media and Communication from the University of St. Galen, Switzerland.


3. Adobe Systems/SAP

End-to-End Custom Development Utilising Web Dynpro and SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe
In this session all aspects of SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe will be covered using Web Dynpro for Java development. During the Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to develop a scenario for online and offline processing. Highlighting:
  • IFba integration with Web Dynpro for Java
  • Utilising techniques such as accessing SAP backend systems
Integrating SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe in Web Dynpro ABAP
This session provides an insight into the Designtime and Runtime integration of Interactive Forms by Adobe in Web Dynpro ABAP components.
  • Interactive Forms by Adobe - a brief overview
  • Creating a first WDA component using an interactive forms UI element
  • Designtime tools (Web Dynpro View Designer, Adobe Life Cycle Designer,...)
  • Data exchange between form context and Web Dynpro context
  • Dynamic development
Enhancing an Existing Business Workflow with SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe
Learn how to enhance an existing SAP Business Workflow with SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe and execute a workflow task in the SAP NetWeaver Portal with the use of the SAP Universal Worklist. On completion of this session, you will:
  • Understand the benefits of Business Task Management and Universal Worklist (UWL)
  • Understand how the different components: Business Workflow and Universal Worklist, Web Dynpro for Java and Interactive Forms by Adobe can work together
Prerequisites: Web Dynpro for Java, ABAP Programming, SAP Business Workflow, SAP Universal Worklist & SAP NetWeaver Portal knowledge.

Note - attendees will need to provide their own laptop
